Seattle Office of Labor Standards Announces Settlement with Zifty Global for Violations of Two Seattle App-Based Ordinances

Seattle, WA (October 20, 2025) – The Office of Labor Standards (OLS) announces the investigation of Zifty Global LLC for alleged violations of the App-Based Worker Minimum Payment and App-Based Worker Paid Sick and Safe Time (PSST) Ordinances. Zifty settled the allegations and agreed to pay a total of $57,843.68 to 163 affected workers and $1,000 to the City of Seattle.

Under the App-Based Worker Minimum Payment Ordinance from January 13, 2024, to March 1, 2025, OLS alleged Zifty failed to provide:

    • Seattle minimum payment for Seattle offers
    • Up-front offer information
    • Electronic receipts
    • Weekly statements
    • Written notice of rights

Under the App-Based Worker PSST Ordinance from May 1, 2023, to March 1, 2025, OLS also alleged that Zifty failed to provide:

    • PSST to its workers
    • Written notice of rights
    • Written notice of the company’s PSST policy
    • Notification of PSST balance

“Standing up for our rights isn’t easy, but it’s necessary. Thanks to OLS, many of us who work in delivery finally received what we were owed. Paid sick time and fair pay aren’t just legal rights—they’re what allow us to care for our families and keep going when times are hard.” said Zifty worker Luciano Rosetti.

“When OLS reaches settlements like this one, our goal is to increase awareness among both app-based workers and network companies about their rights and responsibilities required under Seattle app-based worker protections,” said OLS Director Steven Marchese. “OLS offers free outreach, education and training on all app-based worker laws that include App-Based Worker Minimum Payment, App-Based Worker Paid Sick and Safe Time, and the App-Based Worker Deactivation Rights Ordinances to both workers and network companies.”

Zifty is a network company whose Seattle operations connect businesses with drivers to complete catering deliveries. The company has approximately 10,000 app-based workers worldwide and approximately 200 app-based workers in Seattle.
