Seattle Office of Labor Standards Reaches Settlement with Pacific River, LLC for Alleged Violations of Paid Sick and Safe Time and Wage Theft Laws
Total Financial Remedy of $252,526.06 Returned to 147 Workers
Seattle, WA (July 14, 2025) – The Seattle Office of Labor Standards (OLS) investigated Pacific River, LLC (Pacific River Security) for alleged violations of the Paid Sick and Safe Time (PSST) and Wage Theft Ordinances.
The company settled the allegations and agreed to pay a total financial remedy of $252,526.06 to 147 workers.
OLS alleged that Pacific River Security failed to:
- Provide employees with a written PSST policy or notice of PSST accrual
- Properly accrue employee PSST and interfered with PSST use
- Provide all required rest and meal breaks
- Pay employees for all hours worked
In addition to the monetary remedies, Pacific River Security agreed to provide current employees with back accrual of PSST, provide employees with notification of PSST balances each pay period, develop and implement PSST and rest and meal break policies, and implement a time tracking system to ensure all hours are tracked and paid.
“The investigation was transparent and, obviously, effective. The impact of this settlement will make a huge difference to many of the people affected and will hopefully elevate the working conditions of those still under employment. I cannot thank you enough for the work your agency has invested in protecting our rights and fighting for us,” said Pacific River employee Joseph Bommarito.
The security company has approximately 89 employees in Washington and Oregon and operates one location in Seattle.
“The settlement with Pacific River should serve as a clear reminder to other companies that disregarding labor laws and undermining workers’ rights is unacceptable. Providing PSST and ensuring employees are properly compensated are fundamental workplace standards,” said OLS Director Steven Marchese.” OLS offers support to employers to promote the understanding of these obligations and help prevent potential violations before they occur.”
