    Drug Prosecution Alternative Launch

    07/21/2025

Seattle (July 21, 2025) – Seattle City Attorney Ann Davison and Seattle Municipal Court Presiding Judge Anita Crawford-Willis issued the following statements on today’s launch of the previously-announced Drug Prosecution Alternative.

“The Drug Prosecution Alternative is another step in the effort to uphold public safety, and it is my hope that this new approach will have a meaningful, positive impact on the lives of many, particularly those who struggle with addiction. I’m grateful for the collaborative spirit of Seattle Municipal Court and the Department of Public Defense as we work to provide an alternative to mainstream prosecution.” – Ann Davison, Seattle City Attorney

“SMC is prepared to support the Drug Prosecution Alternative program. DPA participants will undergo an SUD assessment and SMC staff will then provide options and pathways to treatment and support through the court’s Community Resource Center.” – SMC Presiding Judge Anita Crawford-Willis
