Today is the deadline for Gov. Jay Inslee to decide whether to veto the Washington Legislature’s public-records bill before it becomes law. Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes is a member of the state Public Records Exemptions Accountability Committee (“Sunshine Committee”) and he, along with other members of the committee, adopted a resolution urging the Governor to veto the bill.
“I hope the Governor listens to the outcry of the people and vetoes this flawed legislation. Public trust in government is paramount and this bill erodes public trust and transparency by preventing and limiting public disclosure of legislative documents,” said Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes.
