SEATTLE – Please join the City of Seattle and community members at a free event to celebrate the end of construction for the Roosevelt Paving & Safety Project at University District Food, 5017 Roosevelt Way NE, on Saturday, November 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Construction for the Roosevelt Paving & Safety Project began in March and major work was completed this month. We’re working on the final touches to paint permanent pavement markings between NE 45th and NE 40th streets. The project included improved sidewalks, added curb ramps, new in-lane bus stops for more reliable transit service, an upgraded bike lane, and a newly paved street between NE 65th St and the south side of the University Bridge to extend its useful life.
“These improvements bring the city closer to the integrated multi-modal transportation system that we’ve been working toward,” said Seattle Department of Transportation Director Scott Kubly. “People who drive, bike, walk or ride the bus in this neighborhood will now have improved safety and predictability on Roosevelt.”
Celebrate with the U District Partnership, Roosevelt Business Group, and many more. Enjoy light refreshments, and win cool prizes by supporting local businesses. Remarks by Councilmember Rob Johnson and SDOT Director Scott Kubly.
This is also an opportunity to help your local food bank serve the community by bringing new, unused toiletry donations to the event.
