Seattle Mayor Ed Murray issued the following statement after the Board of Regents of the University of Washington announced that Ana Mari Cauce will be the university’s next president:
“Congratulations to Ana Mari on her appointment as President of the University of Washington. Over the course of her career, she’s demonstrated incredible commitment to the university and the community as an educator, administrator, researcher and advocate. This is an historic moment for UW and a proud day for students, faculty, and alumni everywhere. I applaud her leadership and I look forward to her continued focus on diversity, equity and inclusiveness at one of the world’s great public universities. The City and the university will continue to strengthen our partnership as together we advance issues critical to the future of Seattle.”
